This is the photo I am using on it:
Here is my development to get it ready to add to my poster idea:
1. I opened this photo and a blank page up in photoshop.
2. Then I cut a part out of the photo that I didn't need with the 'Quick Selection Tool'.
3.Then I cut around the guy the best I could, again with the 'Quick Selection Tool', and added it to the blank page.
4. Then I placed him where I wanted him on my poster.
5. Then using the 'Brush Tool' I painted over the black bit of wall, that had transferred with the guy, with white paint.
6. Then I used the 'Brush Tool', 'Soft Round Brush' and 'White Paint' to fade out around the hard lines around the guy where I had cut him out.
6a. Including 'Zooming in' to the guitar and fading around the bits that were hard to reach with zooming in.
Then I ended up with this.
7. More fading around the edges.
Now for the boxes of text and the main V Festival icon.
I am going to add this into my Poster next.
I added the Logo to Photoshop then dragged it over to my Poster development.
8. It was a little bigger then I wanted when I first dragged it over, so I went to 'Edit', 'Transform' and then 'Scale' so that I could resize it.
9. I then 'Merged' all the layers together.
I decided to have it here so that the list of bands and festival info was up the top.
10. I then used the 'Soft Round Brush' to add colour to the poster around the pictures.
And then I added a spiderweb to exaggerate the 'Halloween' theme.
11. Then I used the brush to kind of fade out the spiderweb in places so that it looked like part of the background.
12. Next I used a 'Scattered Maple Leaves Brush' and the colour orange and just dragged it along the bottom to add the effect that they were being whipped up by the bass players playing. I added them because Halloween in in the Autumn.
13. Then I just added a few more around.
14. Then I draw a little bit of web that jointed up the picture other web. I was thinking about joining the text to the web and choosing a font so that it looks like web writing. I faded the rest of the web.
15. This is me playing around with placement of the text.
16. Added more text.
16. I like this text placement and how the text gets smaller.
17. Then I added a website and the day the tickets go on sale.
18. I added a 'Halloween Special' title, then I added some different textures to see what the outcomes would be.
19. This is my final image. I decided to use a pumpkin texture for the background because it is a halloween special.
This is the final image:
I painted over the band member, leaves and text so that you could see it through the texture, because when I layered it it was over everything. I chose the colour orange because it is the colour that you see when you think of halloween and it is brightly coloured so it catches your attention.
Evaluation of my own work
What people look for in music festival posters:
-The Band list
-The Colours
-Unique Ideas
-Eye Catching
This is what I have tried to incorporate into my poster. I have included some big names of bands in my poster and a bright colour and images to catch your attention, and a website to find more out from because I didn't want to clutter up the whole poster with writing.
What I could improve:
-I could improve on my Photoshopping skills for next time and I could edit it in ways I didn't this time
-I could make a more diverse range of images if I had a few extra hours next time
-I might have planned it differently and used my time differently like, I would know what I was doing next time so I could get straight into it and do more with the time I had
